And happy with the wonderful memory I have of Monterrey.

I still have not found an easy repertory or an easy piece or an easy song. I believe that...

Do not exactly recall the titles but in the program there is something from opera, something from zarzuela, something from Italian and Neapolitan song. And as someone already said here, perhaps... I don't know... just maybe we have to think about a group of mariachis!

In our daily life we must try to have a certain discipline and to an opera singer this is absolutely fundamental. The type of food you eat, the number of hours you sleep. We have to live a very healthy life. I even dare to say that it is almost the life of an athlete.

I sincerely believe that the most positive thing about this experience with Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti is that this type of music arrived to a more heterogeneous and larger audience.

With Placido Domingo I have a magnificent relation, on the professional level and above all on the personal level and I mus say I feel happy and am always opened to a project where we can perform together. The two of us with another tenor, surely not! With another tenor surely not! Because it would represent a lack of ethics and friendship towards Luciano Pavarotti. So The Three Tenors were The Three Tenors you know!

http://www.milenio.com/node/399060

CARRERAS IS AN ATHLETE

There is no doubt that Jose Carreras gives evidence of his simplicity to everyone standing before him. And being the star he is, him who is performing next Friday in Monterrey, he spoke proudly about his friend Plácido Domingo.

Thu, 11/03/2010 - 05:42

The Spanish tenor is ready to give a big concert at the Arena Monterrey. The life of a tenor and in particular the one of the Spanish Jose Carreras, in his own words, has always been the life of an athlete.

At a packed press conference in this city, where he will perform next Friday, the tenor said that having a life with the same characteristics of the one of an an athlete, that is what made it possible for him to be an opera singer for decades. What we eat, the number of hours we sleep, everything counts."

The distance between Monterrey and New York did not prevent two renowned opera legends to be in contact since when the tenor arrived in the city, he said he had spoken with Plácido Domingo, just a couple of days after Domingo had surgery to remove a cancerous polyp in the colon.

"I'm happy to tell you about this, because at exactly one hour ago (Wednesday, 3.30 pm) I spoke with Domingo and he is ivery much encouraged. Before we spoke I rang him and from his home I was told he was in the theatre rehearsing for his next project. Placido keeps being an warrior and he soon will be with us as the extraordinary artist he has always been", he stated.

On the other hand the Spanish tenor spoke about what passionates him more in life:

" Music does not mean my profession but my passion," said the tenor. And this is why after a couple of years he is back to delight us with his majestic voice.

"Feel happy and delighted to be in your country and in your state. I returned because I have a very good memory of Monterrey. I then performed at the "Parque Fundidora" with Placido and Alejandro, now I'm back alone, but delighted," Carreras told the press. Next, he talked about the repertory mentioning it as the "right one for the situation. Do not recall the pieces but there will be a bit of all: opera, "zarzuela" and Neapolitan, and perhaps something from Mexico. But we have to leave something for the imagination of the people, in order to become a surprise."

On the idea of singing "ranchera" music, the Spanish tenor simply said: "Placido does it much better than me. It would be great to record "mariachi" pieces because I love it but simply can not."

He said he was very pleased to perform for the first time in the Monterrey Arena, a very large space

"You experience different sensations, in such a large space but basically the feeling is the same."

The Monterrey concert coming next Friday will be the penultimate presentation in our country since his 2010 tour will be interrupted in order for him to take a break and will resume in Acapulco, in April.
So, this is how Jose Carreras presents himself to us. With enormous simplicity something that has led him to be considered a wonderful gentleman.Mariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04310843311918164575noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2295406387400434579.post-55616544852274738832010-03-11T21:22:17.410+01:002010-03-11T21:22:17.410+01:00A warrior speaking about another warrior! Someone ...A warrior speaking about another warrior! Someone who knows friendship well speaking about a deep friend! And the opportunity was a wonderful one since Placido Domingo was born in Mexico and Josep is now in Mexico! I firmly believe on Josep Carreras words and also firmly believe Placido Domingo putted even some more drops of courage on the warrior he is, due to these Carreras statements. A real Friend always feels it when such words come from the "other real Friend." It was a meaningful press conference!

Keep thinking about the daily life of an opera singer, almost the one of an athlete, as Josep Carreras said. He is absolutely right. And I would say it is even harder with an opera singer because in general an athlete is not competing for decades, but a tenor remains singing for decades! When I see Josep Carreras receiving ovations from his audiences I often wonder if audiences do understand everything that lies behind the moment they are applauding!

Last but not the least - All the best for tomorrow, Josep! Do wish you to offer a lovely concert!

P.S. Luvi, I know am late with comments! Decided to start with your latest entry but have something to say about Brescia, too!Mariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04310843311918164575noreply@blogger.com
