The Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception with a charity recital of José Carreras will take place at the conference venue – the ESTREL Hotel & Convention Center. We are honoured that José Carreras will show his solidarity and play the lead in our opening ceremony. The Staats- and Domchor Berlin, one of the most famous boy's choir in Germany, confirmed also their performance during the Opening Ceremony. Enjoy an evening with good friends and discussions, with great music, and with fine food along with drinks.

WICKED - THE WITCHES OF OZ Today is the starting date for the great cooperation between the Stuttgart musicals WICKED - THE WITCHES OF OZ and the German José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation. The First highlight of this cooperation will take place next 28th of November, at the Stuttgart's Palladium Theatre. That night the function will be a benefit Gala attended by more than 400 invited guests from show business, economics, politics and sports fields. The Spanish tenor and Foundation founder José Carreras will be himself presenting the evening. "I'm very impressed for the commitment of the WICKED entire team, and next the 28th of November, in Stuttgart, will personally thank them for this" José Carreras said. The proceeds from this event and the donations which start today in the foyer of the musical theater will benefit the Children's Cancer Research of the University Hospital, in Tuebingen. "We are very pleased that we are cooperating with José Carreras and can help the Leukaemia Research in Germany. All the staff at the Palladium theatre are with all their hearts in the process of cooperation to make it a full success," says John O'Hara Mock, New Managing Director Stage Entertainment Germany. "WICKED - THE WITCHES OF OZ is about to stand, to have courage always, even in adverse situations of life, and never give up. This fits very well with the message of the José Carreras Foundation," he explains. On Thursday, the 18th of December 2008, the entire company of WICKED - THE WITCHES OF OZ will be present at the José Carreras Gala and there will be an excerpt of the most beautiful scenes of the musical show. In addition, the witches will be presenting José Carreras with a cheque with the final amount of the donations. The live broadcast of the gala starts at 20.15pm (ARD).

The Spanish tenor founded in 1995 Deutsche José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation in gratitude for the fact that he overcome leukaemia after a stem cell transplant. The Foundation promoted so far over 600 different projects. These include the promotion of science and research, the financing of structural measures, such as the construction of transplant units, day hospitals or rehabilitation centers, and supporting self-help groups and parents initiatives.
