Josep Carreras reaffirms his special bond with Poland with a successful performance in Łańcut

Josep Carreras ha inaugurato il Cinquantatreesimo Festival Musicale di Łańcut, in Polonia, la sera di sabato 24 maggio, presso il parco del castello della città. È stato accompagnato dal soprano ucraino Nataliya Kovalova, e l'Orchestra Filarmonica dei Carpazi diretta dal Maestro David Giménez.

Il giorno prima è stata tenuta la conferenza stampa di presentazione dell'evento. Al momento non sono disponibili molti dettagli, ad eccezione di un nutrito materiale fotografico, sia della conferenza stampa, sia del concerto. È emerso che il pubblico effettivo sarebbe stato il triplo del numero normalmente previsto per gli eventi del festival. Hanno preso parte all'evento, infatti, circa 3.300 persone.

Purtroppo non ho molti elementi in merito al programma, anche se presumo che complessivamente non sia stato troppo diverso rispetto agli eventi precedenti. Nell'insieme molto vario, con elementi della tradizione latina, napoletana, opera e operetta. Josep Carreras ha sempe avuto un legame speciale con la Polonia e il suo pubblico, un pubblico che lui ama e che non aveva nessuna intenzione di lasciarlo andare, premiandolo non con una ma con tre standing ovation e rendendo necessari 5 encores, due più di quelli stabiliti.

Qualcuno ha commentato che con questo programma, Josep Carreras ha dimostrato che la musica va ben oltre il Do di petto quando un artista sa arrivare all'anima delle persone, che anche con una tessitura attuale dotata di un registro acuto limitato dispone ancora di ampie possibilità che confermano che si tratti di uno dei tenori lirici più grandi di sempre. Ed è così, anche senza le possibilità di una volta, sa sempre riconfermarsi ai tuoi occhi come uno dei più grandi, ti conquista e riconquista.

La seconda parte del concerto è stata preceduta da un breve discorso introduttivo, in cui il tenore si è detto molto felice di partecipare a questo festival, in un quartiere così bello, e ha ringraziato tutti gli artisti che lo hanno reso possibile. In questa seconda metà, la tensione ha lasciato spazio ai sorrisi.

Anche il soprano è stato particolarmente apprezzato, sia individualmente, sia nei duetti quali Torna a Surriento ed il Brindisi de La Traviata.

In questa breve intervista, invece, Josep Carreras parla del ruolo della madre nella sua vita e quanto lei abbia influito sulla sua professione. Persa all'età di 18 anni per un cancro, è tutt'ora il l'ultimo pensiero del tenore appena prima di entrare in scena.

Oltre a ricordare il legame speciale con la Polonia e con il suo pubblico, tale per cui vive come una festa ogni occasione che ha di esibirsi nel paese, Carreras parla della famiglia, degli studi compiuti dai figli, di quanto ami trascorrere tempo con i cinque nipoti e di quanto, come tutti, sogni di essere felice. Non nasconde, inoltre, di sentirsi un uomo particolarmente fortunato, di essere stato trattato molto bene dalla vita, per la professione che svolge, per la meravigliosa famiglia, per sentirsi realizzato sia come artista, sia come uomo: tuttavia, spera che il giorno più bello debba ancora venire.

Josep Carreras opened the 53th Łańcut Music Festival in Łańcut, Poland, on the evening of Saturday, 24 May, at the park of the castle of the city. He was accompanied by Ukrainian soprano Nataliya Kovalova and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Carpathians conducted by Maestro David Giménez .

The press conference to present the event took place on the day before. At the moment, not so many details are available, with the exception of a large amount of photos, both the press conference and the concert. It seems that the actual audience would be over three times the number expected for the events of the festival.  In facts, about 3,300 people attended the event.

Unfortunately, I do not have many details on the program, although I assume that it is supposed to be not that different from the ones of the previous events. Overall very varied, with elements of the Latin, Neapolitan opera and operetta traditions. Josep Carreras  has always had a special bond with Poland and its audience, an audience he loves and that had no intention of letting him go away, that rewarded him with not one but three standing ovations, and that made necessary 5 encores, two more than previously planned.

Someone commented that, with this program, Josep Carreras has proved once again that music goes far beyond the famous high C, when an artist knows how to get to the soul of the people: even with a current texture with a limited high register, he still has a wide range of possibilities which confirm him as one of the greatest tenors ever. And so, even without the same possibilities he had before, he always know show to reconfirm himself to you as one of the greatest ever, he conquers  you again and again.

The second part of the concert was preceded by a brief introductory speech, in which the tenor said he was very happy to participate in this festival, in such a  nice place, and thanked all the artists who have made this possible. In this second half , the tension gave way to smiles.

The soprano was specially appreciated as well, both individually and in duets such as Torna a Surriento and the Brindisi from La Traviata .

In this short VIDEO interview, however, Josep Carreras talks about the role of his mother in his life and how she was supportive for him to study music and singing. Since he lost  for a cancer at the age of 18, she is still his last thought before going on stage.

Besides reminding his special bond with Poland and with Polish audience, by saying that every chance he has to perform there is a real celebration to him, Carreras speaks of his family, of the studies made ​​by his son and daughter, of how much he loves spending time with his five grandchildren, and of how his dream, as for everyone, is to be happy. Moreover, he considers himself a very lucky man, treated very well by life, because of his profession, of his  wonderful family, because he feels fulfilled both as an artist and as a man,:however, he hopes that the most beautiful day is yet to come.
