Josep Carreras entusiasmó Chihuahua con una fantástica selección de temas de la tradición mexicana e hispana

Lo scorso 23 agosto, Josep Carreras è stato il grande protagonista del concerto di chiusura dell'undicesima edizione del Festival Internacional Chihuahua. Sui social network circolavano le immagini delle code chilometriche di auto dirette all'Estadio Universitario per assistere al grande evento.

Come anticipato durante la conferenza stampa, tenutasi con tre giorni di anticipo, il tenore è stato affiancato dal soprano messicano Leticia de Altamirano e dai membri selezionati di tre orchestre, rispettivamente l'Orquesta Filarmónica del Estado de Chihuahua, OFECH, l'Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua, OSUACH y la Sinfónica de la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, OSUACJ: sapientemente guidate dal Maestro David Giménez, i giovani elementi hanno svolto un buon lavoro tanto nella Suite no.2 per orchestra jazz di Dmitri Shostakovich, quanto dell'Intermezzo da La Boda de Luis Alonso di Jiménez.

Per quanto concerne, invece, la parte cantata, Josep Carreras ha mantenuto fede alle previe dichiarazioni, proponendo un programma misto che ha compreso opera, ma anche zarzuela, musical, la canzone napoletana e una buona selezione di brani in omaggio al paese ospitante. Per citarne alcuni, Marechiare, Pecché, Passione, Vurria, Core 'ngrato, eseguiti come solo Carreras sa fare, ma The Impossible Dream o l'Ave Maria di Schubert, eseguita in coppia con Leticia de Altamirano, che aveva già entusiasmato i suoi compatrioti con la celebre Je veux vivre dal Roméo et Juliette di Gounod e in seguito con la Carceleras da Las Hijas de Zebedeo.
Com'era prevedibile, ad accendere in modo particolare gli animi del pubblico è stato il corposo assortimento di brani della tradizione musicale messicana e latina, quali Lejana tierra mía, Canción del GitanoAmapola, ma anche due dei brani del suo ultimo disco 25 - Meraviglioso, come Adoro e Contigo aprendí, o Dúo y Jota de La Africana. A gran sorpresa, un'appassionata Besame mucho che il tenore ha regalato accompagnato dal mariachi "Canto a mi tierra" of the UACJ, simbolo di una generosa sequenza di bis che hanno seguito la scaletta ufficiale: Chitarra RomanaNegrita de mis pesares, Cucurrucucú paloma, ed infine i duetti Solamente una vez e il Brindisi della Traviata.
Inondato da gli applausi di un pubblico estasiato, Josep Carreras se possibile ha illuminato lo scenario ancor più dello spettacolo pirotecnico che ha chiuso ufficialmente l'undicesima edizione del festival della città.

On 23 August, Josep Carreras was the big star of the final concert of the 11th edition of the Festival Internacional Chihuahua. A few hours before the beginning of the concert, on social networks you could find images of traffic jams towards Estadio Universitario, the venue of the concert.

As mentioned during the press conference, held three days in advance, the tenor has been joined by Mexican soprano Leticia de Altamirano and selected members of three different orchestras, respectively the Philarmonic of the Chihuahua State, OFECH, the Symphony Orchestra of the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, OSUACH, and the Symphony Orchestra of the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez, OSUACJ: expertly guided by Maestro David Giménez, the young musicians did a good job in Suite no.2 for jazz orchestra by Dmitri Shostakovich, as well as in the Intermezzo from Jiménez's La Boda de Luis Alonso and in Bizet's Arlésienne Suite.

However, as regards the vocal part, Josep Carreras has remained loyal to his prior statements, and offered a mixed program that included opera, but also zarzuela, musical, Neapolitan songs and a good selection of songs in tribute to the host country.
Just to mention a few songs, Marechiare, Pecché, Passione, Vurria and Core 'ngrato, just like only Carreras can sing, but also The Impossible Dream or Schubert's Ave Maria, the latter performed together with with Leticia de Altamirano, who had already impressed her proud compatriots with the famous Je veux vivre from Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, and then with Carceleras from Las Hijas de Zebedeo.
Predictably, what excited the public most was the full-bodied range of songs from the Mexican and Latin musical tradition, such as Lejana tierra mía, Canción del Gitano from La Linda Tapada, Amapola, but also two songs from his latest album 25 - Meraviglioso (2013), Adoro and Contigo aprendí and, Dàuo y Jota from La Africana. By the way, the greatest surprise was a passionate rendition of Besame mucho, that the tenor sang accompanied by the UACJ "Canto a mi tierra" mariachi, a symbol of a generous sequence of encores which followed the official program: Chitarra Romana, Negrita de mis pesares, Cucurrucucú paloma, and the duets Solamente una vez and Brindisi from La Traviata.
Showered with never ending ovations from a delighted audience, Josep Carreras shone even more, if possible, than the fireworks that officially closed the 11th edition of the festival of the town.
