Josep Carreras "I don't call it 'Farewell tour': it does not mean that I'm going to stop singing after 2018"

Josep Carreras ha rilasciato un'intervista alla testata spagnola ABC in merito a quello che non intende definire tour di addio, anche se sarà l'ultimo. 

"Ho sempre detto che quando avrei deciso di lasciare il palco sarei stato entusiasta di esibirmi in quelle città in cui mi sono sentito più a mio agio come interprete. So che sarà impossibile, ma ho in programma di tornare in quelle più emblematiche.", rivela il tenore a Pablo Meléndez Haddad.

Come è noto, quest'ultimo, lungo tour dal titolo "A Life in Music" (Una vita per la musica) è stato presentato un paio di mesi fa a Berlino con un'apposita conferenza stampa, farà tappa anche in Germania a ottobre ma verrà presentato alla Royal Albert Hall di Londra il prossimo 15 maggio, per poi giungere in Messico, a Roma, Graz, Innsbruck, Mosca, San Pietroburgo, tra altre città.
Si tratta di una serie di concerti che il leggendario tenore terrà fino alla fine del 2018 in città come "Vienna, New York, San Francisco, Milano, Tokyo o Buenos Aires... e anche alcuni dei festival estivi in ​​cui ho cantato" ha detto, per poi affrettarsi a precisare "Questo non significa che dopo il 2018 io smetta del tutto di cantare, perché se devo fare un recital a beneficio della Fondazione per la leucemia che presiedo, e se la salute me lo consente, ovviamente lo farò, come accadrà a Oviedo il 30 aprile". In questo modo annuncia personalmente anche quello che sarà il suo prossimo concerto al Teatro Campoamor insieme al mezzosoprano Margarita Gritskova.

La sua gratitudine nei confronti della Germania è stato l'argomento cardine della seconda parte dell'intervista. Anche all'interno del tour finale si terrà un tour tutto tedesco che fermerà a Berlino, Lipsia, Stoccarda, Amburgo, Monaco e Mannheim, Carreras prevede di tornare ancora in Germania: "Stiamo preparando un concerto di ringraziamento, siccome i tedeschi hanno aiutato la mia Fondazione."

Dal 1995, ogni mese di dicembre Carreras presenta ogni un gala di beneficenza che viene trasmesso in televisione in tutta la Germania: nell'ultima edizione sono stati raccolti oltre tre milioni di euro. "Devo molto alla Germania e l'idea è di tenere questo concerto in un grande spazio, come uno stadio. Voglio ringraziare i tedeschi per la loro ospitalità, per la loro generosità e per tutto il supporto che hanno sempre dato alla Fondazione" facendo riferimento a un contributo che complessivamente ha superato i 100 milioni di euro, assegnati interamente alla ricerca scientifica e all'implementazione e manutenzione di strutture che contribuiscono a migliorare la qualità della vita dei pazienti.

Al momento, il tour "A Life in Music" non prevede ancora soste in Spagna, "anche se non posso rinunciare a cantare nella mia città, Barcellona, ​o nella mia amata Madrid, ma staremo a vedere quando e dove. Per ora, in Spagna ho in programma di cantare a Oviedo, e nel mese di agosto al Festival di Cambrils (Tarragona)".

His gratitude to Germany was the key topic of the second part of the interview. Even though his final tour include a smaller one across Germany that will stop in Berlin, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Munich and Mannheim, Carreras is going to comeback to Germany again: "We are preparing a thanksgiving concert, as the Germans have helped my Foundation a lot. "

Since 1995, Carreras is host of a charity gala which is broadcast live on television throughout Germany in December: in the last edition over three million Euros have been collected. "I owe a lot to Germany and the idea is this concert to take place in a large space, such as a stadium. I want to thank the Germans for their hospitality, for their generosity and for all the support they have always given to my Foundation" referring to an overall amount exceeding 100 million Euros in support of scientific research and allocated to the implementation and maintenance of facilities that help to improve the quality of life of patients.

At the moment, the tour "A Life in Music" does not include dates in Spain yet, "Although I can not give up singing in my city, Barcelona, ​​or in my beloved Madrid, but we'll see when and where. Up to now,  I am supposed to sing in Oviedo, and  in Cambrils (Tarragona) in August."
