Josep Carreras and Celine Byrne thrilled the audience of the Wiltz Festival
Lo scorso venerdì 10 luglio, Josep Carreras ha regalato una serata meravigliosa al pubblico del Festival di Wiltz, Lussemburgo, che lo ha premiato con generosi applausi pregni di gradimento ed entusiasmo. Al suo fianco, il soprano irlandese Celine Byrne, che celebrava il trentesimo concerto insieme al leggendario tenore, il suo pianista da oltre 25 anni Lorenzo Bavaj e il quartetto d'archi Opera Petite Ensemble composto dai violinisti Irene Tella e Andrea Castagna, il violista Roberto Molinelli e il violoncellista Massimo Magri.
Oltre alla pregevole maestria che corrisponde al nome di Carreras e al talento dei suoi accompagnatori, parte del successo della serata sta nella scelta di un programma adeguato e che incontra molto i gusti del pubblico.
La prima parte ha previsto brani di Tosti e Puccini, nello specifico Sogno e Segreto, e Terra e Mare e Sole e Amore, ma anche una punta patriottica con la sua T'estimo e un'altra più sacra e solenne con l'Ave Maria di Schubert, quest'ultima eseguita in versione di duetto con Celine Byrne.
La prima parte ha previsto brani di Tosti e Puccini, nello specifico Sogno e Segreto, e Terra e Mare e Sole e Amore, ma anche una punta patriottica con la sua T'estimo e un'altra più sacra e solenne con l'Ave Maria di Schubert, quest'ultima eseguita in versione di duetto con Celine Byrne.
La seconda parte, invece, ha ospitato un repertorio un po' più popolare, in cui hanno trovato spazio la tradizione latina, con Lejana tierra mía e Íntima, da un lato, e quella partenopea con Vurria e Core 'ngrato, per assicurare un finale formidabile. Questa volta ha proposto Je te veux di Satie insieme al soprano.
Celine Byrne, invece, ha saputo mantenere alto il livello con le interpretazioni di Caro mio ben di Giordani e La Serenata di Toselli, nella prima parte, e in seguito la pucciniana O mio babbino caro e Vilja dall'operetta Die lustige Witwe, nella seconda.
A coronare i colori dei fiori e il clamore delle ovazioni e dei bravo, che il pubblico ha doverosamente rivolto agli artisti, una sequenza di quattro encores: Josep Carreras ha giocato un'altra carta vincente con una intensa versione, come sempre, di Vierno, cui Celine Byrne ha fatto corrispondere il brano I could have danced all night, e infine un'altra coppia di duetti: Non ti scordar di me e Lippen Schweigen, ancora una volta dall'operetta menzionata precedentemente.

Last Friday, July 10, Josep Carreras offered a wonderful evening to the audience of the Wiltz Festival, Luxembourg, which rewarded him back with generous and enthusiastic applauses of appreciation. By his side, Irish soprano Celine Byrne, who celebrated her thirtieth concert with the legendary tenor, his long-term pianist Lorenzo Bavaj, and the Opera Petite Ensemble string quartet, starring Irene Tella, Andrea Castagna, Roberto Molinelli, and Massimo Magri.
In addition to the fine mastery corresponding to the name of Carreras and the talent of his partners, the successful evening is also related to the choice of a programme which matches the audience's tastes very much.
The first part provided Tosti's and Puccini's works, specifically "Sogno" and "Segreto", and "Terra e Mare" and "Sole e Amore", but also a bit of his homeland with "T'estimo", and a more sacred and solemn note with Schubert's Ave Maria, the latter performed in duet with Celine Byrne.

The second part hosted a repertoire a bit more popular, which made room to the Latin tradition, with "Lejana tierra mía" and "Íntima", on the one hand, and to the Neapolitan one, with "Vurria" and "Core 'ngrato", which always guarantees a formidable finale. On this occasion, the duet they proposed was "Je te veux" by Satie.
Celine Byrne was able to maintain such high level with her interpretations of Giordani's "Caro mio ben" and Toselli's "La Serenata", in the first part, and then Puccini's "O mio babbino caro" and "Vilja" from operetta "The Merry Widow", in the second part.
The absolute beauty of the colors of the flowers and the thunderous ovations and bravos the public dedicated to the artists was crowned by a sequence of four encores: Josep Carreras played another trump card with an intense version, as always, of "Vierno", which was followed by Celine Byrne's great rendition of "I could have danced all night", and then another couple of duets: "Non ti scordar di me" and "Lippen Schweigen", once again from the previously mentioned operetta.
