"Il Video della Settimana": Josep Carreras sings "Dolente Immagine" and "Malinconia, ninfa gentile" by Vincenzo Bellini

Benvenuti per un nuovo Video della Settimana.

Sono davvero dispiaciuta che questo intermezzo musicale abbia saltato un turno la settimana scorsa. Questo purtroppo è stato dovuto al guasto del mio computer, cui si sono aggiunti problemi relativi alla piattaforma di Blogger. La situazione non è ancora risolta del tutto e questo mi rende abbastanza nervosa e seccata. Per il blog mi sono rivolta all'assistenza di Blogger.

Nel frattempo, Josep Carreras questa settimana si è recato nella citta di Duderstadt in Germania per il 3 Symposium della Fondazione dell'artista Peter Maffay, spesso ospite del José Carreras Gala, e si è esibito venerdì sera nell'Avenham Park di Preston per il Preston Guild Proms in the Park 2012 insieme al mezzosoprano gallese Katherine Jenkins e alla Manchester Camerata diretta da David Giménez... un altro grande successo cui però ci dedicheremo nel prossimo post, non appena ho più materiale per commentare il concerto.

Al di là dell'impossibilità di gestire il blog come avrei voluto, e a tutto ciò che consegue dalla fine delle vacanze, esami alle porte e chi più ne ha più ne metta, una buona parte dei miei pensieri non è ancora tornata da Salisburgo: i brani di quel recital meraviglioso continuano a risuonare nella mia mente e la delizia per un programma così raffinato sembra non esaurirsi mai.
Credo di essere stata piuttosto esplicita nel post di commento a questa grande serata di Josep Carreras al Festival di Salisburgo, un post sicuramente molto emotivo nel quale non sono riuscita minimamente a trattenere le emozioni che ho provato quella sera: Josep è stato travolgente.

È per questo che mi sento di dedicare questa edizione del Video della Settimana, che compie un anno in questi giorni, al ricordo meraviglioso di questo recital, e vorrei farlo se mi permettete con due brani di Vincenzo Bellini che amo moltissimo. Sia per Dolente immagine, sia per Malinconia, ninfa gentile, Bellini attinse alla sua vena più languida e malinconica: basti pensare che Dolente Immagine, per esempio, non è infatti che un'aria funebre intonata in memoria della persona amata presso la sua tomba, e Malinconia, ninfa gentile non ha di certo toni più gioiosi. Ma questo fa comunque di loro due perle, due arie meravigliose che ricorrono spesso nel repertorio per tenore, e che Josep Carreras ha proposto nei suoi recital fin dai primissimi anni della sua carriera. 

Purtroppo la disponibilità su youtube non è poi così varia: sono costretta a proporvi due versioni di solo audio, risalenti agli anni 79-80. Certo, sarebbe stato meglio godere di un video completo... ma a me è bastato chiudere gli occhi, abbandonarmi a tanto splendore e tornare nella sala della Haus für Mozart seppur solo con il ricordo. Senz'altro più di 30 anni incidono nella resa vocale, ma l'espressività è rimasta quella di allora, sempre così inconfondibile... sempre così come solo Josep sa fare. Quei pianissimo, la bellezza assoluta del suo timbro, quel modo unico di cantare le parole... non riesco a smettere di ascoltarle, è un problema? Ditemelo voi, godetevele!!!

◦ I'm really sorry that last week I could not prepare it as usual. This was due to the fact that I could not use my computer as it didn't work properly, and moreover the blog seems to have some problem: I've asked for assistence by Blogger. Meanwhile, this week Josep Carreras went to Duderstadt to attend the third Symposium of the Peter Maffay Foundation: as you all know, Peter Maffay is a german artist who has often hosted the Josàe Carreras Gala; the catalan tenor has also performed at the Avenham Park in Preston for the Preston Guild Proms in the Park 2012, together with welsh mezzosoprano Katherine Jenkins and the Manchester Camerata conducted by David Giménez. One successful concert more, but I will comment you in the next post as soon as I find more stuff on it. 

◦ Beyond the impossibility to run the blog as I wish to, the end of my holidays and all the direct consequences, new session of exams etc, a good part of my mind has not yet come back from Salzburg: the songs of such wonderful recital are still playing in my mind, and my delight for such refined program seems to have no end. I think that the post I dedicated to it is quite explicit: it's very emotional as I could not help keeping back what I felt that evening: Josep has been just overwhelming. That's why I would like to dedicate this new edition of the Video of the Week, which turns 1 these days, to the wonderful memory of this recital, with two very songs by Vincenzo Bellini I love so much. In both for Dolente Immagine and Malinconia, ninfa gentile, Bellini gleaned from his most languid and melancholic mood: note that Dolente Immagine, for example is actually a moarnful aria dedicated to a lover on her grave, and Malinconia, ninfa gentile isn't more joyful at all. But they are for sure two gems, two wonderful arias very common in the recital format for tenors, and that Josep Carreras has often proposed from his very first recitals at the beginning of his career. 

◦ Unfortunately, there's not that much available on youtube: I have no choice but proposing two audio versions of them, dating back to 1979/1980. Of course, a real video would be better... but I just closed my eyes and surrendered to such beauty, going back to the Haus für Mozart even just with my memories. There are no doubt that we listened a different version, as it was performed 30 years later: by the way his expressivity is still the same, unique and unmistakable. Those pianissimos, the absolute beauty of his timbre, the way he sings words... well, I just can't stop listening to them... is it a problem? You'll tell me, enjoy them!!
