New Summer Banner 2014

Ecco il nuovo banner per l'estate del 2014.

Anche questa volta ho dovuto rinunciare ai consueti colori tipicamente estivi per privilegiare il tema di fondo. Come potete vedere, anche questo banner è ispirato a El juez, l'opera di Christian Kolonovits che è stata presentata per la prima volta due mesi fa a Bilbao in tre rappresentazioni, il progetto che ha riportato il nostro Josep Carreras ad essere protagonista della scena operistica. Chi c'era e chi ha letto le impressioni di chi l'ha vissuto, è perfettamente consapevole dell'impatto emotivo che questo evento ha creato. Ora però lo sguardo è rivolto al futuro, all'appuntamento ormai imminente di Erl, teatro di tre nuove recite di El juez, previste per il 9, 12 e 15 agosto: tre nuove occasioni per ripetere il successo della prima bilbaina!

Due banner consecutivi, quindi, dedicati a questa nuova opera. Ma mentre a marzo, il tema era il ritorno all'opera di Josep Carreras, in un contesto di continuità con gli ultimi due ruoli in cui aveva debuttato sullo sfondo dei rispettivi teatri, questo nuovo banner ci porta direttamente dentro all'opera. Troviamo infatti sullo sfondo una scena del quarto atto (rimango sul generico per rispetto a chi deve ancora vedere l'opera), cui è stato applicato un effetto di superficie ruvida: come potete vedere la scenografia privilegia i colori scuri, ed è stato indispensabile adattarsi. 

Inoltre, nella porzione centrale del banner precedente, ho dovuto necessariamente optare per un'immagine, seppur emblematica, ma dell'artista: qui, invece, posso introdurre il personaggio, il juez Federico Ribas, che vediamo sia nella scena di fondo, sia nelle due immagini in primo piano di sinistra. Come vedete, ne ho utilizzate due, a contrasto, ricorrendo per una alla tecnica del bianco e nero ad alto contrasto per rendere il dissidio interiore e la caratterizzazione psicologica del protagonista. A destra, invece, ho scelto una soluzione intermedia tra personaggio e artista: vedete Josep Carreras nei panni del suo personaggio, con uno sguardo più eloquente di tante parole, nell'emotivo momento del curtain call. Per questa foto straordinaria voglio ringraziare Elaine, autrice non solo di questa foto ma di tutte le altre pubblicate nella pagina facebook Ítaca. Elaine segue questo blog da anni, ormai, e mi ha gentilmente autorizzata all'utilizzo della sua fotografia.

Here's the new summer banner 2014.

This time I had to give up the usual, typical summer colors to better support the main subject As you can see, this banner is once again inspired by El juez, the new work by Christian Kolonovits which was presented for the first time two months ago in Bilbao with three performances, the project that brought our Josep Carreras back as protagonist of the opera scene. Those who either attended  or read the impressions of the attending people, must be well aware of the emotional impact that such event created. However, now we look to the future, to the imminent dates of Erl, the scene of three new performances of El juez, scheduled for 9, 12 and 15 August, three new opportunities to repeat the success of the first presentation in Bilbao!

Two consecutive banners, therefore, dedicated to this new work. But while in March, he iconcept idea was Josep Carreras' comeback to opera, in a context of continuity with the last two roles in which he debuted, with the respective opera houses on the background, this new banner leads us directly into the opera. We find in the background a scene of the fourth act (my choice to be vague is a sign of respect towards the people who still have to attend it for the first time), to which was applied a rough surface effect: as you can see, the scenery favors dark colors, and it was necessary to adapt to it .

In addition, in the central portion of the previous banner, I had to necessarily opt for a picture of the artist, albeit emblematic: however, here I can introduce the character, judge Federico Ribas we see both in the background and in the two images in the foreground on the left. As you can see, I've used two pics, using a high contrast b/w technique for one of them, in order to better suggest the inner conflict and psychological characterization of the protagonist. I would like to thank the authors for these images, ¡GRACIAS Clàsica y tuits!

On the right side, however, I chose an intermediate solution between character and artist: see Josep Carreras in the shoes of his character, with a look that speaks louder than words, during the emotional circumstance of the curtain call. For this picture, I would like to thank Elaine, not only the author of such extraordinary photo, but of all the other collected in the Ítaca facebook page. Elaine has followed this blog for years now, and has kindly authorized the use of her photo.
