Josep Carreras torna a l'Hospital Clínic de Barcelona com a visitant agraït per l'inauguració del Campus Clínic - UB per la recerca contra la leucèmia
Avui, més de 27 anys després d'haver-ne estat un visitant forçós, tinc la fortuna de tornar en aquest conjunt scientific i assistencial que formen la Facultat de Medicina de l'Universitat de Barcelona i l'Hospital Clínic, afortunadament, en una nova condició. Avui en sóc un visitant permanentment agraït: en primer lloc, com ex-pacient, aquests professionals d'aquesta casa, li van salvar la vida; en sogon lloc, agraït per la col·laboració i les facilitats que hem rebut pel Rectorat, pel Degà, i per tota la Facultat per dur a terme una il·lusió que no és més que un testimoni d'aquest agraïment.

Josep Carreras è "tornato" oggi all'Hospital Clinic di Barcellona dove 27 anni fa aveva ricevuto le prime cure per la leucemia diagnosticatagli a Parigi, per l'inaugurazione del Campus Clínic - UB dell'IJC: si tratta di uno dei tre dell'Institut de recerca contra la leucemia Josep Carreras, creato nel 2010 dalla Fundació Josep Carreras e dalla Generalitat de Catalunya, e destinato a diventare un punto di riferimento internazionale con l'obiettivo che la leucemia sia un giorno curabile al 100%. Gli altri due campus sono quello dell'Hospital Sant Pau di Barcellona e l'ICO/ Germans Trias i Pujol di Badalona (Can Ruti).

Molto emozionato, il tenore e Presidente della Fundació Josep Carreras, come dell'Institut, ha detto che era "Un visitatore permanente grato perché qui, in questo ospedale, mi hanno salvato la vita, e per le strutture che l'ospedale e la Facoltà di Medicina dell'Università di Barcellona (UB) hanno messo a disposizione per realizzare questo progetto. " Dopo aver precisato che che questo contributo viene a integrare ciò che di buono ed eccellente è già stato fatto per migliorare la salute dei pazienti affetti da leucemia, ha fatto riferimento al Professor Ciril Rozman, suo medico durante la malattia, come "fonte di ispirazione e di esempio perché il campus che si apre oggi è il frutto della sua maestria scientifica ed accademica".
La cerimonia di inaugurazione ha avuto luogo presso l'Aula Magna dell'Universitat de Barcelona: oltre a Josep Carreras hanno assistito il sindaco Trias, il rettore della UB, personale medico, scientifico, docenti, tra cui è doveroso menzionare i Professori Ciril Rozman, Evarist Feliu e il Dr. Enric Carreras, esperti di ematologia, membri del Clinic e della Fundació Josep Carreras. Ha fatto seguito la visita presso i laboratori, la cui direzione scientifica è affidata al Dr. Pablo Menéndez, esperto internazionale alla guida di un gruppo di 10 ricercatori.
La Fundació Carreras ha investito oltre 2,5 milioni di euro per la costruzione di strutture del nuovo campus Clínic-UB, ubicato presso la Facoltà di Medicina dell'Università, che dispone di un laboratorio molecolare, un laboratorio di citometria a flusso, sala criobiologia e altre strutture dedicate alla ricerca per la leucemia e le neoplasie ematologiche, suddivisi su due piani.
Negli anni a venire, la Fundació Carreras destinerà 14 milioni di euro per le strutture dei tre campus per promuovere una ricerca di eccellenza, ognuno in aree distinte.

Josep Carreras is back today at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, where 27 years ago he received the first treatment for the leukemia previously diagnosed in Paris, for the inauguration of the Clinic - UB Campus of the IJC: it is one of the three of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institut, created in 2010 by the José Carreras Foundation and the Generalitat de Catalunya, and is destined to become an international reference whose goal is that one day leukemia could be a 100% curable disease. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Aula Magna of the University: among the attending people, Josep Carreras, the Mayor Trias, the Rector of the UB, Professors, physicians and scientists, such as the already mentioned Professors Ciril Rozman, Evarist Feliu and Dr. Enric Carreras, experts in hematology, members of both the Clinic and the José Carreras Foundation. This was followed by a visit to the laboratories, whose scientific direction is entrusted to Dr. Pablo Menéndez, an international expert guiding 10 researcher equipe.
The Carreras Foundation has invested over € 2.5 million for the construction of the new campus facilities Clínic-UB, which is located at the Faculty of Medicine of the University: it is composed of a molecular laboratory, a laboratory for flow cytometry, dining cryobiology and other facilities dedicated to research for leukemia and other hematological malignancies, and it is spread over two floors.
In the coming years, the José Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation will allocate 14 million euros to the buildings and equipment of these three campuses to promote research of excellence, but all in different areas.
