Josep Carreras "The best gift for the anniversary edition": about 3,2 million Euros raised with the 20. José Carreras Gala
Come sapete giovedì sera si è svolta la ventesima edizione del José Carreras Gala, presso l'Europa Park di Rust (Friburgo), in Germania, trasmessa in diretta dal canale Sat 1. Gold. Nella presentazione, Josep Carreras è stato affiancato dalla giovane Nina Eichinger che poco tempo fa avevamo visto al fianco di un altro tenore, Rolando Villazón, presentatori dell'Echo Klassik Award. Insieme a loro, anche Matthias Killing di Sat.1, addetto dell'andamento delle donazioni.
Dopo l'esperienza del 2013 con Sky Deutschland, ha fatto ritorno sulla free tv. Sono sicura che il pubblico tedesco, come probabilmente anche quello austriaco e svizzero non avranno avuto difficoltà nella visione dell'evento televisivo. Sono comunque soddisfatta di essere riuscita a segnalare per tempo il link di un livestream funzionante, offrendo così a molti di voi la possibilità di vederlo.

Come di consueto, un gala molto ricco sia artisticamente sia, e soprattutto, umanamente: ogni anno, infatti, i grandi protagonisti del José Carreras Gala sono i pazienti ed ex pazienti e ieri sera ne abbiamo visti diversi: bambini, adulti, madri, padri. Abbiamo visto chi sta lottando con grande determinazione, chi l'ha fatto e ha vinto la battaglia e chi, purtroppo, non ci è riuscito. Rispettivamente, i momenti più toccanti e più dolorosi.
La generosità del popolo tedesco, e non solo, è a servizio proprio di questo: durante la maggior parte della trasmissione scorrevano sovra impressione i nominativi dei donatori con il rispettivo importo e le somme erano considerevoli, nonostante la crisi. Il primo risultato parziale, annunciato dopo più di un'ora dall'inizio, segnava già quasi un milione di euro, e a meno di un'ora dalla fine circa 2,4 milioni di euro. Il risultato finale, seppur parziale, segnava € 3.193.684 come potete vedere nell'immagine sottostante.
Ho detto parziale perché è ancora possibile effettuare donazioni, dunque chi non fosse riuscito ieri è ancora in tempo.
Anche a livello artistico, l'edizione del ventesimo anniversario ha contato con un buon numero di grandi artisti, molti dei quali da anni collaboratori veterani della Carreras Stiftung e molto sensibili verso questa causa: da Chris de Burgh a David Garrett, da Klaus Meine a Albert Hammond, da Katja Ebstein a Christina Stürmer, da Annette Louisan a Chima, insieme a un grande rappresentante del mondo dello sport come Philipp Lahm.
Anche Josep Carreras ha dato il proprio contributo artistico ieri sera, in aggiunta a una massiccia dose di quello umano: in primo luogo ha interpretato il brano di operetta Dein ist mein ganzes Herz; per poi duettare insieme a Klaus Meine nello splendido brano Wind of Change, in assoluto uno dei momenti topici; in conclusione, un congedo natalizio con un brano di tradizione universale come Adeste Fideles.
Siamo fortunati perché su YouTube sono già disponibili due esibizioni su tre, che vi riporto qui di seguito.
Avrete notato che, appena dopo Dein ist mein ganzes Herz segue il video messaggio di Pep Guardiola, ex allenatore del Barça, squadra del cuore di Josep Carreras, in cui esprime in tedesco la sua grandissima ammirazione per il tenore e invita tutti ad aiutarlo nella sua missione. Vi ricordo che poco tempo fa, Guardiola aveva pronunciato la laudatio per Carreras per il premio bavarese dedicato agli iniziatori di fondazioni.
Questo è stato solo uno dei video trasmessi durante il programma. Oltre alle storie dei pazienti, molti dei quali hanno ricevuto una visita dallo stesso Josep Carreras come è stato possibile constatare con profonda emozione, sono state trasmesse immagini delle prime edizioni del Gala. In particolare, vorrei segnalarvi quella di una bambina che nella prima edizione del 1995 era ospite come paziente, mentre ieri sera, quasi vent'anni dopo, lo era nelle vesti di una giovane donna che da tempo aveva conquistato la guarigione. Altri ricordi sono stati rievocati attraverso le immagini di un duetto con Udo Jürgens nel brano Merci Chérie, una Silent Night insieme a Domingo e Pavarotti, e un ulteriore duetto con Peter Maffay.
Udo Jürgens, Herbert Gronemeyer e Peter Maffay hanno inoltre partecipato all'edizione di quest'anno attraverso un video messaggio: il cantautore austriaco, che ha recentemente celebrato l'ottantesimo compleanno, ha affermato che "Josep Carreras ha salvato innumerevoli vite vite, Questa dev'essere una bella sensazione!". Anche Chris de Burgh e Albert Hammond hanno riconfermato la loro totale disponibilità per il futuro.
Josep Carreras ha riconfermato l'umanità che lo contraddistingue e ha ripetutamente incoraggiato gli spettatori a donare e a contribuire a salvare vite, sempre in tedesco, nonostante per la maggior parte del tempo si sia espresso in spagnolo. Al termine del programma il suo augurio è stato esaudito: la sua espressione nel visualizzare la cifra conseguita era eloquente e mostrava enorme felicità e gratitudine. Dopo lo show ha affermato che questo risultato è il miglior regalo per questa edizione di anniversario e che gli consentirà di proseguire nella lotta contro la leucemia. In vent'anni sono stati raccolti più di 100 milioni di euro investiti in oltre 1000 progetti di ricerca.

As you know, last night was celebrated the twentieth edition of the José Carreras Gala at the Europa Park in Rust (Freiburg), Germany, broadcast live by the channel Sat 1. Gold. In the presentation, Josep Carreras was joined by young lady Nina Eichinger whom we had recently seen alongside another tenor, Rolando Villazón, as moderators of the Echo Klassik Award 2014. Along with them, Matthias Killing from Sat.1, who updated about the trend of donations.
After the experience of 2013 with Sky Deutschland, the JC Gala returned on free TV. I am sure that the German public, as probably the Austrian and Swiss ones might not have had any difficulty in watching the event on TV. Actually, I'm satisfied and happy for sharing in time with you a livestream link working properly, in order to give people living outside Germany the chance to watch it as well.
As usual, it was a very rich gala, both artistically and, especially, humanly: in fact, the main protagonists of the José Carreras Gala are patients and former patients, and last night we saw several children, adults, mothers, fathers. We have seen them struggling with great determination, some who won their battle and some other who, unfortunately, did not succeed. Respectively, the most touching and the most tough moments of the show.
The generosity of the German people, and perhaps not only German, served all this: during most of the broadcasting we could read the donors names wand their respective amount, and the amounts were significant despite the crisis. The first partial result, announced after over an hour from the beginning, marked already nearly a million euros, and less than an hour before the end, about 2.4 millions. The final result, albeit preliminary, marked € 3,193,684 as you can see in the image above. I say partial because you can still make your donations, so who did not yesterday still has time.
Even on the artistic level, the twentieth anniversary edition of the Gala was provided with a good number of great artists, many of which have been veteran collaborators of the Carreras Stiftung for years, and are very sensitive towards this cause: Chris de Bourgh David Garrett, Klaus Meine, Albert Hammond, Katja Ebstein. Christina Sturmer, Annette Louisan, Chima, along with a great representative of the world of sport as Philipp Lahm.
Of course, Josep Carreras gave his artistic contribution as well. in addition to a massive dose of the human one: firstly, he performed Dein ist mein ganzes Herz; then he sang the wonderful song Wind of Change in duet with Klaus Meine, absolutely one of the highlight of the evening; in conclusion, Christmas greetings with a universally traditional song as Adeste Fideles. We are lucky because two performances on three are already available on YouTube.
You may have noticed that, just after Dein ist mein ganzes Herz follows a video message by Pep Guardiola, former coach of Barça, Josep Carreras' favorite team, in which he expresses in German his great admiration for his compatriot and invites everyone to help him in his mission. In particular, I would like to refer to a little girl who attended the first edition in 1995 as a patient, while last night, almost twenty years later, she joined as a young woman who had luckily conquered healing many years from now. Other memories were evoked through images of a duet with Udo Jurgens in the song Merci Chérie, then a version of Silent Night with Domingo and Pavarotti, and another duet with Peter Maffay. Udo Jurgens, Herbert Gronemeyer and Peter Maffay have also participated this year through a video message: in particular, the Austrian songwriter, who recently celebrated his eightieth birthday, said that Josep Carreras "has saved countless lives. Josep Carreras reconfirmed his unique humanity, and repeatedly encouraged viewers to donate and help save lives, and he always said that in German, even though for most of the time he communicated in Spanish. Today we complete 20 years of Galas. Twenty years in which you have proved your altruism and solidarity towards all the patients. On their behalf, I am going to tell you two things: one, you are wonderful; and the last one, that leukaemia will be curable, always and in every case. I wish you Merry Christmas.
After the show, he said that this result is the best gift for this anniversary edition and that will allow him to keep on the fight against leukemia. In twenty years they have collected over 100 million Euros in order to finance over 1,000 research projects.
