JOSEP CARRERAS - A LIFE IN MUSIC/CHRISTMAS CONCERT IN BRATISLAVA (VIDEOS INCLUDED)

Dopo un mese netto trascorso tra Cina e Giappone per un totale di cinque serate, rispettivamente Wuhan, Shenzhen e Pechino in Cina con David Giménez e Celine Byrne, e due recital a Nagoya e Tokyo con Lorenzo Bavaj, cui hanno fatto seguito i festeggiamenti per il suo settantesimo compleanno, Josep Carreras ha fatto ritorno in Europa e ha già offerto un concerto alla Ondrej Nepelu Arena di Bratislava proprio ieri sera. 

Insieme a lui, il soprano Rebeca Olvera e il Maestro David Giménez, il Bonifantes Boys Choir e la Pardubice Chamber Philarmonic Orchestra.

Il concerto si è composto di due parti differenti: nella prima, Josep Carreras ha scelto alcuni brani del suo tour mondiale A Life in Music, come Era de maggio, Canción Húngara, T'estimo, The Impossible Dream e El dúo de la Africana in duetto con il soprano, che per proprio conto ha interpretato Je veux vivre e Me llaman la primorosa; nella seconda, invece la magica atmosfera del Natale ha preso il sopravvento grazie alla magnifica scelta di brani della tradizione come Adeste Fideles, Mille cherubini in coro, la catalana El cant dels Ocells e l'immancabile White Christmas da parte di Carreras, Cantique de Noël e The little drummer boy in duetto con Rebeca Olvera che, a sua volta ha interpretato l'Ave Maria di Bach-Gounod e Joy to the World. 

Dopo fiori e lunghe e calorose ovazioni, quattro i bis concessi: Carreras e Olvera hanno rispettivamente cantato singolarmente I'll be home for Christmas e Let it snow, per poi riunirsi con Non ti scordar di me e la suggestiva Silent Night.

Per fortuna su YouTube sono disponibili alcuni video che ci possiamo godere. Nel frattempo le congratulazioni per il nostro tenore, che si esibirà ancora domani sera a Pardubice in Repubblica Ceca, sono d'obbligo: BRAVO JOSEP!

After a whole month spent between China and Japan for a total amount of five performances, respectively three concerts in Wuhan, Shenzhen and Beijing in China with David Giménez and Celine Byrne, and two recitals in Nagoya and Tokyo with Lorenzo Bavaj, later followed by his seventieth birthday celebration, Josep Carreras is now back in Europe and has already offered a concert at the Ondrej Nepelu Arena in Bratislava last night.

Along with him, the soprano Rebeca Olvera and the conductor David Giménez, the Bonifantes Boys Choir and the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra.

The concert consisted of two different parts: in the first one, Josep Carreras picked some songs of his A Life in Music world tour, as Era de maggio, Canción Húngara, T'estimo, The Impossible Dream and El dúo de la Africana in duet with the soprano, who sang in turn Je veux vivre and Me llaman the primorosa; in the second one, however, a Christmassy magical atmosphere of Christmas gained the upper hand thanks to some magnificent, traditional songs such as Adeste Fideles, Mille cherubini in coro, the Catalan El cant dels Ocells and quintessential White Christmas by Carreras, Cantique de Noël and Little Drummer Boy in duet with Rebeca Olvera, who sang on her own Bach-Gounod's Ave Maria and Joy to the World. 

After lots of flowers and long, warm ovation four encores were offered: Carreras and Olvera respectively individually sang I'll be home for Christmas and Let it snow, to later join together with Non ti scordar di me and suggestive Silent Night.

Fortunately there are some videos on YouTube that we can really enjoy. Meanwhile congratulations for our beloved tenor, who will be performing again tomorrow evening in Pardubice, Czech Republic, are a real must: BRAVO JOSEP!
