In two months Josep Carreras will be back to opera with the world premiere of "El Juez" in Bilbao
Mancano solo due mesi all'attesissimo, grande ritorno di Josep Carreras sulle scene operistiche, con la prima mondiale dell'opera di Christian Kolonovits, su libretto di Angelika Messner, "El Juez (Los niños perdidos)", che si terrà presso il Teatro Arriaga di Bilbao il 26 aprile, con repliche il 29 e il 2 maggio 2014. Come già scritto, "El juez (Los niños perdidos)" appartiene al genere di denuncia, trattando un tema drammaticamente delicato quale il furto di neonati nella Spagna della dittatura degli anni Cinquanta. Emilio Sagi, direttore artistico del Teatro Arriaga e direttore di scena di questa nuova opera, ha deciso di produrre questo titolo ovunque questo verrà portato, entusiasmato dalle musiche tanto quanto Carreras lo era stato per la tematica prescelta da Kolonovits, ragione che lo ha portato ad accettare questa sfida. La componente artistica costituisce comunque l'aspetto principale, a discapito di quella politica che potrebbe corrispondere al tema.
Si tratta di una produzione propria del Teatro Arriaga in collaborazione con il Festival austriaco del Tirolo, Tiroler Festspiele ERL. L'Orchestra BIOS (Orchestra Sinfonica della Biscaglia) sarà diretta dal Maestro David Giménez, e il Coro Rossini dal Maestro Gerardo Carbajo.

Josep Carreras, che canterà il ruolo protagonista, il Giudice Federico, sarà affiancato dal soprano spagnolo Sabina Puértolas, con cui ha già cantato in diverse occasioni in passato come al Teatro Alla Scala e al Palau de la Música Catalana nel 2010, e che ha recentemente debuttato con successo al Gran Teatre del Liceu nel ruolo di Lisa in La Sonnambula.
Nel video qui sotto potete ascoltarli in una loro brillante versione del famoso Dúo de La Africana, tratto da un concerto a Pécs del 2007.
In questa occasione, Sabina interpreterà la parte di Paula, presentatrice televisiva che prepara un reportage sui neonati scomparsi: Federico, interpretato dal nostro Josep, a sua volta era un bimbo perduto, scomparso insieme ad altri da un orfanotrofio: costretto a chiudere gli archivi di un convento, non è affatto a conoscenza di avere un fratello, autore di canzoni di protesta degli anni 60/65 che sta tentando di localizzarlo.
Per quanto riguarda l'aspetto tecnico, il direttore musicale David Giménez aveva commentato che si tratta di un'opera pensata per un pubblico ampio, con una musica completamente tonale caratterizzata da uno stile del tardo post-romanticismo, che porta le tonalità al limite attraverso molti cromatismi, ben costruita sulle voci affinché queste possano sentirsi a proprio agio e rendere al meglio.

Per quanto riguarda l'aspetto tecnico, il direttore musicale David Giménez aveva commentato che si tratta di un'opera pensata per un pubblico ampio, con una musica completamente tonale caratterizzata da uno stile del tardo post-romanticismo, che porta le tonalità al limite attraverso molti cromatismi, ben costruita sulle voci affinché queste possano sentirsi a proprio agio e rendere al meglio.

As I had already written, "El juez (Los niños perdidos)" belongs to the genre of denounce, dealing with such an issue as dramatically delicate as stolen babies in Spain, during the dictatorship of the 50's. Emilio Sagi, the artistic director of the Teatro Arriaga and stage director of this new production, decided to produce this title anywhere it will be brought to, because he was impressed by the music as much as Carreras was for the theme chosen by Kolonovits: his enthusiasm made him accept this challenge. The artistic component will be regarded as the main aspect, no matter how much the topic could seem related politics.
It is an own production of the Teatro Arriaga in collaboration with the Festival of the Austrian Tyrol, Tiroler Festspiele ERL. The BIOS Orchestra (Symphony Orchestra of Biscay) will be conducted by David Giménez, and the Rossini Choir by Maestro Gerardo Carbajo.

Josep Carreras will sing the title role, Judge Federico, and will be joined by Spanish soprano Sabina Puértolas, with whom he had sung on several occasions in the past such at La Scala or the Palau de la Música Catalana in 2010, and who recently made a successful debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the role of Lisa in La Sonnambula. As for the technical aspect, the musical director David Giménez had commented that it is a work intended for a wide audience, with a completely tonal music which is characterized by a late post- romanticism style, which leads toneality to the limit through chromaticism, well built on voices so that they can feel comfortable and make their best.
