Josep Carreras has opened his new concert tour with a special performance in Bahrain

Con marzo ha preso avvio il nuovo tour di Josep Carreras. Giovedì, infatti, in occasione della sua prima visita a Manama nel Bahrain, il nostro tenore ha offerto un concerto speciale, parte del Festival Spring of Culture, presso il Teatro Nazionale. È stato accompagnato dal soprano Nataliya Kovalova e da David Giménez, alla guida della Ambassade Orchestra Vienna.

Premettendo l'eventualità di qualche variazione, il programma distribuito al pubblico riportava la consueta suddivisione in due parti molto varie. L'apertura orchestrale è avvenuta con l'Overture del Nabucco, dopo la quale Josep Carreras ha effettuato il suo ingresso con i brani Lu Cardillo di Mercadante e L'ultima canzone di Tosti.
Nataliya Kovalova ha scelto invece di presentarsi con Song to the Moon, dalla Rusalka di Dvorak, un brano di impatto cui ha fatto seguito l'aria Ebben ne andrò lontana da La Wally
Prima di quest'ultimo, Carreras si è cimentato in un altra coppia di canzoni, El eco de tu voz di Albéniz e un'immancabile Rosó di Josep Ribas, per poi chiudere la prima parte con un frammento popolare del musical Man of La Mancha, The Impossible Dream, successivo alla seconda esibizione della sola Ambassade Orchestra Vienna con la Farandole de L'Arlésienne Suite di Bizet.

La seconda parte presenta un incipit forte con un'accoppiata straordinaria di brani della migliore tradizione napoletana, Vurria e Passione. Il soprano ha proseguito con Les filles de Cadix di Leo Délibes, ed ancora con la zarzuela, con il brano Canción de Paloma da El Barberillo de Lavapiés. Precendentemente, il primo duetto del concerto con Je te veux di Satie, seguito dal celebre e carismatico Dúo y Jota de La Africana. L'orchestra si è esibita un'ultima volta come protagonista assoluta, guidata da David Giménez con l'intermezzo de La Boda de Luís Alonso, in linea con i frammenti cantati di zarzuela che l'hanno succeduto. La prorompente chiusura non avrebbe potuto avvenire senza una magnifica versione di Core 'ngrato del nostro Josep.

Tra gli encores, che qualcuno sostiene siano stati due, la popolarissima Chitarra Romana.

Oltre a brevissimi frammenti video che trovate in corrispondenza di quattro titoli del programma, in definitiva non molti dettagli sono stati divulgati su questo concerto che però risulta essere stato un l'evento culturale di maggior prestigio cui lo stato del Bahrain abbia assistito da moltissimi anni: con questo concerto, il leggendario tenore catalano, in splendida forma, ha disegnato l'arco della gioia, slogan che accompagna questo festival nazionale.

With the beginning of March, Josep Carreras started his concert tour of the new year. Las Thursday 6 March, in fact, on the occasion of his first visit in Manama, Bahrain, our tenor offered a special concert, part of the Spring of Culture Festival at the National Theatre. He was accompanied by the soprano Nataliya Kovalova and David Giménez, who conducted the Ambassade Orchestra Vienna.
Assuming the possibility of some variation, the program handed out to the public reported the usual division into two, varied parts. The opening took place by the sole orchestra, who played the overture from Nabucco, after which Josep Carreras made ​​his entrance with  Lu Cardillo by Mercadante, and L'ultima canzone by Tosti.
Nataliya Kovalova chose to introduce herself with Song to the Moon from Rusalka by Dvorak, a piece of impact which was followed by the aria Ebben ne andrò lontana, from La Wally.
Before this latter piece, Carreras was back again to sing another couple of songs, El eco de tu voz by Albéniz, and an unmissable Rosó by Josep Ribas , and to then close the first half with a popular fragment of the musical Man of La Mancha, The Impossible Dream, following the second performance of the Ambassade Orchestra Vienna with the Farandole from Bizet's L'Arlesienne Suite.
The second part provided a strong starting point, by pairing two extraordinary songs of the best Neapolitan tradition, Vurria and Passione. The soprano continued with Les filles de Cadix by Leo Delibes, and with the  Canción de Paloma from zarzuela El Barberillo de Lavapies. Previously, the first duet of the concert with Satie Je te veux, followed by the famous and charismatic Dúo y Jota from La Africana. Before that, the orchestra had performed alone for the last piece as a protagonist, led by David Giménez with the intermezzo La Boda de Luis Alonso, in line with the zarzuela fragments that followed. The irrepressible closing could not occur but with a magnificent version, as usual, of Core ' ngrato by our Josep.
Among the encores, which some claim were two, an extremely popular Italian song, Chitarra Romana.
In addition to four short video clips linked above, actually not so many details of this concerhave been spread, but it seems to have been one of the most prestigious cultural events the state of Bahrain has experienced and enjoyed for many, many years: with this performance in perfect vocal shape, the legendary Catalan tenor drew the "Arch of joy", the slogan of this national festival.
