"Il Video della Settimana": Recordant la Cerimonia d'obertura dels Jocs Olimpics de Barcelona 92, 20 anys més tard

Benvenuti per un nuovo Video della Settimana.

Penso sia assolutamente inevitabile, in questi giorni in cui i Giochi Olimpici di Londra 2012 si sono appena avviati dopo una splendida cerimonia di apertura, tornare indietro con il ricordo al 1992, quando le Olimpiadi le ospitava proprio Barcellona, una straordinaria città mediterranea che all'epoca si mise in gioco, rinnovando diverse strutture per poter garantire ai Giochi la migliore ospitalità. Il risultato si commenta da solo, visto che si sono rivelate tra le migliori Olimpiadi che la storia ricorda. 

Questo ha reso onore a Barcellona, ed è motivo di un orgoglio ancora più grande perché, come voi sapete, il ruolo di direttore musicale è stato ricoperto da Josep Carreras. Questo incarico è stato accettato molto responsabilmente dal tenore, la cui unica preoccupazione era quella di garantire la maggiore disponibilità possibile, soprattutto per quanto riguarda l'aspetto organizzativo. La sua agenda era stracolma di impegni, e spesso ricorreva a voli privati per poter presenziare alle riunioni: il suo senso del dovere non è mai venuto meno nel momento in cui il  nostro tenore si è preso un impegno, e questa virtù gli è stata riconosciuta anche in questo frangente. Aveva accolto con entusiasmo questa proposta, la possibilità di dare il proprio contributo in un'occasione in cui la sua città ed il suo paese sarebbero stati visibili da tutto il mondo ininterrottamente per ben due settimane.

Lo scorso mercoledì 25 Luglio ricorrevano proprio i 20 anni di quella splendida cerimonia inaugurale, che fin dall'inizio ha visto Josep come protagonista, quando insieme a Montserrat Caballé ha dato il benvenuto, con la Sardana "Sigueu Benvinguts", mentre una moltitudine di ballerini svolgevano coreografie rappresentando gli anelli olimpici. La Catalogna apriva le braccia ad un evento straordinario, attraverso le voci di due glorie catalane quali la Caballé e Carreras.

La cerimonia di apertura ha in seguito contato anche con un meraviglioso medley operistico che ha visto sullo stesso palco ben sei tra i più grandi cantanti d'opera tra spagnoli e catalani: insieme a Josep Carreras, Teresa Berganza, Montserrat Caballé, Jaume Aragall, Plácido Domingo e Juan Pons. So che la maggior parte di voi avrà ben presente questo grande momento, senz'altro un video che oggi non poteva mancare, anche per un motivo esterno alla ricorrenza olimpica. 

Domani sera, presso il Gran Teatre del Liceu di Barcelona, il grande baritono Juan Pons canterà la sua ultima funzione di Aida, dopo la quale si ritirerà dalle scene nelle quali ha trionfato per più di quarant'anni. Sono particolarmente legata al Maestro Pons, perché tra tutte le grandi voci che l'essere Carrerista mi ha permesso di conoscere, la sua è senz'altro una di quelle che ho sempre amato di più. Egoisticamente, mi è dispiaciuto moltissimo quando ho appreso questa notizia, ma so che sono eventi normali nella vita di una persona, e mi rallegro che, nonostante il ritardo dovuto alla mia giovane età, sono riuscita ad ascoltare dal vivo il grande Juan Pons al Liceu pochi mesi fa. È stato semplicemente straordinario nella sua interpretazione dell'aria del Falstaff. 

Se non ricordo male, all'inizio della mia avventura in questo mondo, conobbi Juan Pons proprio attraverso questo medley operistico delle Olimpiadi del 92, ed è per questo motivo che in buona parte lo glielo dedico di tutto cuore, come omaggio a un meraviglioso artista che si congeda dalle scene dopo una vita di emozioni regalate e di applausi ricevuti. 

Auguro al Maestro Juan Pons tutto il meglio per questa sua nuova tappa della vita, e lo ringrazio di cuore per tutte le emozioni che, seppur in poco tempo, è riuscito a regalarmi. E ora, godiamoci questo medley!!

◦ As the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games London 2012 took place two days ago, we can't but go back with memories to 1992, when the Games took place in Barcelona, an extraordinary mediterranean town that accepted the challenge and renewed in order to welcome and host it all. The result is much better than any comment: among the most successful Olympics ever. Barcelona had to be proud of it, even more because, as you all know, the musical director was Josep Carreras. He accepted in a very responsible way, who did his very best in order to guarantee his presence to most of organizational meetings, as his scheduled was so full. Also in this occasion he has demonstrated a deep commitment and sense of duty, and this has been recognised. He said yes with the biggest enthusiasm for having the possibility to give his contribution for an event during which his hometown and country could be visible all around the world for about two weeks. ◦ Last Wednesday July 25 was the 20th anniversary of that wonderful opening ceremony, starring Josep as a protagonist from the very beginning: he performed with Montserrat Caballé the sardana Sigueu Benvinguts", while so many dancers were moving around forming the 5 olympic rings. Catalonia was opening its arms to an extraordinary event, through the voices of two of the catalan greatest glories, like Caballé and Carreras. 

◦ The opening ceremony dealt also with a opera wonderful medley for which six among the greatest catalan and spanish opera singers shared the same stage: together with Josep Carreras, Teresa Berganza, Montserrat Caballé, Jaume Aragall, Plácido Domingo and Juan Pons. I know that most of you know perfectly such moment, a video that could not miss today, for various reasons, also not related to the Olympics. Tomorrow, Juan Pons is going to sing his last Aida at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and then he will retire from the stage where he has triumphed for more than 40 years. I love him as an artist: among the great voices I have listened to for the fact of being a Carreras fan, his has always been one of my favourite. Selfishly, I'm so sorry for his decision, but I know that it's something normal in life, and I'm happy that I had the opportunity to listen to him live at the Liceu few months ago, though my young age.His rendition of the Falstaff aria was simply extraordinary!! 

◦ I think he came to my knowledge through this video at the very beginning of my adventure in the world of opera, and that's the reason why today I would like to dedicate it to him too, with all my heart, like an homage to a wonderful artist who leaves the stage after a life full of emotions given and huge ovations received. I wish Juan Pons all the best for this new part of his life, an I would like to thank him for the great emotions he has been able to give me, even though in a short time.
