"Il Video della Settimana": Josep Carreras sings Dicitencello Vuje (Salzburg Festival, 1989)

Benvenuti per un nuovo Video della Settimana.

Una domenica di fuoco per essere ancora di relativa vacanza: quest'oggi, infatti, seppur in due televisioni differenti, si celebra la figura di Josep Carreras. Questa mattina presso il canale ORF2 della Televisione Austriaca è stato trasmesso un reportage "José Carreras - Mein Leben mit Musik", in occasione della sua performance presso il Festival di Salisburgo con il recital di giovedì prossimo, programma ritrasmesso da ORF III nel pomeriggio, per un'ora piacevolissima densa di ricordi di sue performance del passato in Austria, vecchie interviste, fino alla più recente dello scorso ottobre, in occasione dello splendido concerto tenutosi alla Konzerthaus di Vienna. Ringrazio Eva per queste informazioni, dato che pare proprio che la trasmissione non sarà disponibile online, quindi non avrò il piacere di vederla.

Poco prima della mezzanotte, invece, Josep Carreras sarà nuovamente protagonista attraverso la ritrasmissione di un delizioso documentario dal titolo "Josep Carreras a escena: 50 anys del seu debut al Liceu", girato in occasione del recital con cui celebrò nello stesso il teatro il cinquantesimo anniversario della sua primissima esibizione all'età di 11 anni. Chi di voi lo aveva già visto 4 anni fa, ricorderà come sia lo stesso Josep a raccontare molti tra i momenti più pregnanti della sua straordinaria relazione con l'Opera di Barcellona, supportato dall'intervento di alcuni colleghi, direttori d'orchestra come David Giménez e Zubin Mehta. In mezzo a tanta "carne al fuoco", a me non rimane che il piacere di proporvi un video, uno che non potrebbe che riguardare l'attesa per il grande ritorno di Josep Carreras al Festival di Salisburgo. Tutti ormai sapete che il nostro tenore offrirà un recital questo giovedì presso la Haus für Mozart alle ore 19:00, accompagnato dal grande Lorenzo Bavaj al pianoforte. Scommetto che tutti noi, a prescindere dall'avere o meno il privilegio di assistere a questo evento sempre straordinario, siamo un po' a mezzo tra ansia ed eccitazione. Si sa, è Salisburgo... e non occorre dire altro. Non so se la mia proposta di oggi ci aiuterà ad alleviare questo adorabile nervosismo, oppure lo fomenterà... ma l'unico modo che conosco per rimanere in tema, è quello di proporvi un momento di un altro suo grande ritorno al Festival di Salisburgo, quello del 1989. Insisto a ricordarvi che questo meraviglioso recital è disponibile su DVD... il mio è praticamente consumato. Forse una partecipazione di Josep Carreras al Salzburger Festspiele a questo punto della sua carriera può essere interpretata come un suo encore, in un contesto che lo ha accolto la prima volta nel 1976 per volere di qualcuno come Herbert von Karajan, e molte altre in seguito come i vari Don Carlos e il Requiem di Verdi. E proprio in visione di questo attesissimo encore, vi propongo uno degli encores di quel recital del 1989: si tratta di una famosissima canzone napoletana che amo molto, e che spero venga riproposta tra qualche giorno sempre nell'incantevole atmosfera di Salisburgo. ◦ A very intense Sunday even though it's still summertime: in fact, today, though from different TV channels, Josep Carreras is being celebrated. This morning the Austrian TV Channel ORF2 has broadcast the reportag "José Carreras - Mein Leben mit Musik" (My life with music), on occasion of his upcoming recital to be part fo the Salzburg Festval, and it has been broadcast again in the afternoon by ORF III: a lovely hour full of memories of his past performances and interviews in Austria, until the latest in October 2011, on occasion of his wonderful concert at the Konzerthaus in Vienna. I would like to thank Eva for these infos: unfortunatly the program won't be available online, so I won't be able to watch it. Just a little bit before midnight, Josep Carreras will be again the protagonist because of a re-trasmission of a documentary called "Josep Carreras a escena: 20 anys del seu debut al Liceu", filmed on occasion of his latest legendary recital at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in 2008, celebrating the 50th anniversary of his very first performance there at the age of 11. Those who had already watched it certainly remember that it is the same Josep who tells about the most important moments of his wonderful relationship with his Opera House, supported by the contribution of some collegues of hsi such as Montserrat Caballé, or some conductors such as David Giménez and Zubin Mehta. ◦ With so much stuff, I can just porpose my usual Video of the Week, one that might be concerned our waiting for Josep Carreras' great comeback to the Salzburg Festival. You must already know that our tenor will offer a recital with the great pianist Lorenzo Bavaj at the Haus für Mozart in Salzburg next Thursday, August 30, 7pm. I'm sure that everybody of us, no matter if we have the privilege to attend such extraordinary event or not, are coping with both excitement and nervs. We know it, it's Salzburg, no need to tell more. I don't know if this video will ease our lovely tension or will increase it, but the only way I know to be ON TOPIC it's offering a great moment of another "great comeback" to the Salzburg Festival dating back to 1989. I will tell you again that this recital is available on DVD. My copy is almost consumpted. 

◦ Perhaps this new recital at the Salzburg Festival at this point of his career can be regarded as an "encore" in a special context which had welcome him for the first time in 1976, as Herbert von Karajan wanted it, and many more times later, such as with many Don Carlos and Verdi's Requiem. So, on occasion of such expected "encore", I would like to offer you one fo the encores of the recital of 1989: it's an extremely famous neapolitan song I love so, and just hope he will sing it once again in the enchanting atmosphere of Salzburg.
